Ukay Destination 5: PASAY ROTONDA (updated)

PASAY ROTONDA

I know we're not yet done covering the shops in Starmall Alabang but we'll get back to that. For now I'm featuring our next ukay destination which is Pasay Rotonda. It is located, where else, in Pasay city! It is actually the intersection of EDSA and Taft Avenue. This destination has about 8 shops (I'm not sure if there are more) and most of them offer great items. Some of the shops are even airconditioned!

This place is very accessible because 2 major trains pass here, LRT 1 and MRT. If you have a car you can park at the Metropoint Mall basement parking or Infront of the Sogo Hotel if you're in the Northbound side of EDSA.

The ukay shops in the area are listed below:

1. Raberly
2. Boogie Boogie Shop
3. Ukay Ukay Wagwagan
4. Tasi Thrift Shop
5. Ukay Shop 5
6. Ukay Shop 6
7. Ukay Shop 7
8. Ukay Shop 8

I will discuss each shop separately so keep coming back for updates to this post and for new entries.

Ukay Business 3: UKAY IS OKAY BUSINESS FOR OFWS AMID CRISIS

UKAY IS OKAY BUSINESS FOR OFWS AMID CRISIS
By: MARK J. UBALDE, GMANews.TV

MANILA, Philippines - In these dire times, it’s okay for overseas Filipinos to invest in ‘ukay-ukay’ (rummage / surplus stores).

This was the advice of economist Federico Macaranas for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who want to go into business despite a gloomy economic climate.

“It is a nice opportunity for you in this recessionary time it would be in food, ukay-ukay, and all cheaper goods that poorer people would buy," Macaranas told GMANews.TV in an interview.

Macaranas, who is also executive director of the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center, explained that the ukay-ukay will be a hit among frugal Filipinos, especially as Christmas day draws near.

Get The Look 6: DSQUARED2 S2010

DSQUARED2 SPRING 2010
White Shirt
Black Bow Tie
Black Blazer
Beige Cargo Shorts
Grey Tights/Leggings

UKAY VERSION
White Shirt - Thrifted (Php 50.00)
Black Bow Tie
Black Blazer - Thrifted (Php 35.00)
Beige Shorts - Thrifted (Php 70.00)
TOTAL COST: Php 155.00 (US$ 3.40)!
I didn't include the grey tights/leggings in my ukay version because first it might already look too styled for runway. Second I dont have grey tights. I like this look alot especially the contrast between the more formal top and very casual bottom.

Ukay Shop 38: LIFE STYLE FASHION 3

LIFE STYLE FASHION 3
This is the 3rd Life Style Fashion in Starmall Alabang. I like the fact that half of the store is dedicated to men's clothing, very few ukay ukays are like that. But most of the selection is really sad. I hate it because half of those clothes are discount shirts from the US! Still worth checking because the other half offers great finds particularly the jackets. They also have children's clothing.
This is the last shop of the 15 ukay shops from Starmall Alabang. A really great destination for ukay ukay shopping. Its comfortable, accessible, and offers several choices. Really worth a visit.
